Killings: Buhari Deploys 1000-Strong Military Force To Zamfara

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the deployment of 1,000 security personnel to Zamfara state in a bid to bring an end to the spate of killings in the region.

This was contained in a statement on Sunday by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

According to the statement, the personnel comprise of the army, Air Force, police and the civil defence.

Shehu said the personnel are being deployed to launch fierce attacks on the bandits terrorising citizens in the state.

The spokesman said the President has also authorised the engagement by Nigerian air force (NAF), of advanced satellite surveillance technology to help in accurate detection of movement and locations of the bandits.

He equally disclosed that the NAF has begun the deployment of fighter aircraft to Katsina whose airport closest to Zamfara “to make for immediate and effective response to the menace of the bandits.”

According to him, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar, was in Gusau, the Zamfara state capital, at the weekend, where he met the Deputy Governor of the State.
