Leah Sharibu’s Mother Cries Again For Daughter’s Release

Barely six days after a video surfaced on social media where an aid worker, Grace Taku claimed that Leah Sharibu had been killed by Boko Haram in captivity, mother of the captive girl, Rebecca Sharibu has again pleaded with the Federal Government to speed up efforts towards the release of her daughter.

According to reports, Rebecca made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.

“I still plead with Federal Government, organisations and individuals to intensify efforts for the release of my daughter, Leah, who has been in the hands of insurgents for one year and five months.

In a similar vein, Leah’s friend, Miss Aisha Kachalla, who was also abducted by the terrorists but was released, said she was worried on the whereabouts of Leah, who has been in continued detention by the terrorists.

“I often cry when I remember my friend Leah. I don’t know where she is.

“I don’t believe she is dead because there is no proof of her death. Her corpse has not appeared in any television station or newspaper.” Kachalla said.

Malam Kachalla Bukar, the Secretary of Dapchi Abducted School Girls Parents Association, said the association would not relent in its effort to ensure that Leah is released.

This is not the first time she will be making an appeal to the government. She had in February made one of such appeals.

Taku who is the only female among six aid workers in boko haram captivity had said in the viral video that Leah has been killed

The video reportedly sparked reactions from Nigerians who are hoping the news is not true.

Sharibu is the lone Dapchi school girl still in captivity after the terrorist sect kidnapped 110 students in February 2018.

While the terrorists released the other 109 girls, they held on to Leah on account of her faith.
