Liverpool Swoop For Arsenal’s Oxlade-Chamberlain, Open Talks With Gunners

Liverpool have opened talks with Arsenal over a possible deal for 24-year-old winger, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Gunners had reportedly reached an agreement for a £40m fee with Premier League rivals Chelsea on Monday but the 24-year-old England international rejected the move to Stanford Bridge on Tuesday.

Chamberlain is believed to prefer a move to Anfield under Jurgen Klopp and feels he has more of a chance at featuring in his preferred midfield role with the Reds.

The English man has started each of Arsenal’s four games so far this season despite telling manager Arsene Wenger he would not sign a new contract.

He was applauded warmly by the Liverpool fans after he was substituted during Arsenal’s 4-0 defeat at Anfield on Sunday.

The midfielder has made 198 appearances for Arsenal since joining them from Southampton in August 2011 and he is set to serve as a suitable replacement for Philippe Coutinho who is edging closer on a move to Barcelona.
