The authorities of Maduka University, Enugu, Thursday, said they would take legal action against people behind recent publications where the university was alleged to have “scammed over 400 nursing students ₦800,000 each without offering them admission”.

One of the news mediums, not THE WHISTLER, claimed that the university, founded by the Chairman of Peace Group, Dr Sam Maduka Onyishi, was involved in admission racketeering.

The university, in an official response posted by Dr Onyishi, said, “Our legal team is currently reviewing the publication and will pursue necessary action against the individuals responsible for the malicious story. We urge the public to disregard the false narrative being circulated, and reaffirm our unwavering dedication to providing quality education and fostering an environment conducive to learning and personal development.”

The university clarified that her students “are only required to pay school fees after being formally admitted into their respective programmes”, adding that, “It is against our institutional policy to collect fees from prospective students before offering them admission.”

The university challenged “anyone making such claims to provide evidence of payment without corresponding admission into our institution.”

The management further demanded scrutiny and verification of the university’s “records to debunk these unfounded accusations.”
