Two suspected thieves have been killed following a mob action in Nasko, Niger State, after they allegedly attempted to dispossess a commercial motorcyclist of his motorcycle.
The Niger State Police Command said its operatives responded to the incident on Sunday, August 23, 2026, following reports of the mob action.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the two deceased men were allegedly involved in an attempt to rob an Okada rider of his motorcycle when the incident occurred.
The remains of the two suspects were recovered by the police and deposited at the General Hospital, Nasko.
The police said an investigation had commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths and identify those involved in the mob action.
The case is currently being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Minna.

The police urged members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and allow security agencies to investigate criminal allegations and prosecute suspects through due process.
