NCC To Deactivate 2.24 Million SIM Cards By September 25

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has received September 25 deadline to deactivate 2.24 million SIM cards that are improperly registered.

The deadline was handed to NNC on Tuesday by the Minister of Communications, Ibrahim Isa Pantami.

Pantami gave the directive when he met with the management of the telecom regulator today in Abuja.

“We want to make sure that by 25th of September 2019, we don’t have a single incomplete registration of SIM in Nigeria,” Pantami said.

The minister wants the affected SIM card to be quickly rectified to help address security concerns pertaining to improperly registered SIM cards in the country.

Pantami, however, commended the rectification of 6.8million SIM cards out of 9.2 million that were improperly registered when he resumed office recently.
