The Candidates: Nigerians Compare Buhari, Atiku’s Performances At Town Hall Meeting

Nigerians have taken to micro-blogging platform, Twitter, to compare former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s performance during Wednesday’s interview on NTA with that of President Muhammadu Buhari when he appeared on the station some weeks back.

Atiku, who is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside his vice presidential candidate, Peter Obi, had appeared on the programme titled ‘The Candidates’ to tell Nigerians how they intend to govern the country if eventually they get voted into office in the February 16 presidential election.

President Buhari, alongside his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, had similarly appeared on the programme to tell the citizens what they’ve achieved in their almost four years in office and what they intend to do if reelected in the coming election.

Nigerians have now taken to Twitter to air their opinions on the performances of the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.

Below are some of the reactions:

@isaacdetails: “I don’t understand what Alhaji Atiku meant with the point that he represents the link between present and coming generations, maybe in actual sense,he meant past and present. Me I just want to waste my PVC on candidate that represents my generation shall”

@Moana0635: “Did Atiku really just say that he’ll encourage looters to bring their money to Nigeria? First he said he’ll enrich his friends and now this? He is just passing subliminal messages to the people he wants to sell off our assets to.”

@AgayaHenry: “Atiku Abubakar is way more enlightened than Buhari. To even think they are off the same peer group is really frightening. Nigerians we need to get Nigeria working again.”

@StainlessChi: “Ms Kadaria has shown so much ignorance in private sector driven economy, taxation and models of state growth.”

@AnnieBietAntia12: “Peter Obi isn’t answering questions for Atiku, he’s adding his contributions.
Atiku isn’t busy saying he doesn’t undstand the questions, he’s answering accordingly. Obi isn’t interpreting questions to Atiku. People are clapping, not embarrassed like Amaechi.”

@AdesugbaDipo:” Atiku: I lifted 45,000 people out of poverty in Adamawa State

“Narrator: Yet, Adamawa remains one of the poorest states in the country. If your home-state hasn’t seen a change with you being a VP in 8 years, why should they believe it can be different now?”

@iam_johncfc: “What Atiku and Peter Obi have said in 1hr is more than what Buhari and Osinbajo has done in 3 years. Fact!”

@Legacy12j: “Importantly, importantly, kadaria has always asked the candidates if they’d accept the results of the election per adventure they lost; Only Atiku & Obi has categorically answered that question head on.”

@babaidris090: “After watching #NgTheCandidates tonight , my lost hope in reviving this country was revived through their Analysis. Now i know what @atiku and @PeterObi intend to achieve in the interest of Nigerians. This is not abt personal interest , this is abt the future of the country”
