Ogogo Promoted Nollywood With Uncommon Professionalism– Ogun Govt

The Ogun State Government has described the death of veteran actor and filmmaker, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, as a monumental loss to the state, Nigeria’s creative industry and the country.

The government said Hassan, an indigene of Ilaro, Ogun State, made significant contributions to the promotion and preservation of Yoruba culture through his works in theatre, film and television.

Mr Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, stated this in a condolence message issued on Monday in Abeokuta.

Akinmade said the late actor distinguished himself throughout his career through his talent, professionalism and commitment to Nigerian culture.

“Throughout his illustrious career, Taiwo Hassan distinguished himself through exceptional artistry, humility, candour, dignity and respect for others.

“He carried himself with uncommon grace and professionalism, earning the admiration of colleagues, fans and generations of Nigerians,” he said.

According to him, Hassan remained a proud ambassador of his Ilaro roots while using his career to project the Yoruba language, traditions and values to audiences within and outside Nigeria.

“He promoted the Yoruba language, tradition and values through his works, thereby projecting the richness of the culture to audiences in Nigeria and across the world,” he said.

The government said Hassan’s death had created a painful void that would be felt by his family, the people of Ilaro and Ogun State, as well as colleagues and admirers in the creative industry.

Akinmade extended the government’s condolences to the actor’s family, friends, colleagues, the people of Ilaro and his numerous fans across Nigeria and beyond.

“At this moment of grief, we celebrate the remarkable life he lived, the memories he created and the indelible legacy he leaves behind.

“Taiwo Hassan Ogogo, was a shining light. His voice may have fallen silent, but his works, values and contributions to our cultural heritage will continue to speak for generations.

“He will be sorely missed,” Akinmade said.

He prayed that Almighty God grant eternal rest to Ogogo and give his family and other mourners the strength to bear the loss.
