Nigerians Want JAMB Registrar Oloyede As Education Minister

Some Nigerians have deemed the current Registrar of the Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, as deserving to be appointed as the country’s next Minister of Education.

This comes as some of them have taken to Twitter to ask President Muhammadu Buhari to replace his former Education Minister, Alh. Adamu Adamu, with Prof. Oloyede.

The recommendation is coming after the JAMB Registrar called on the Federal Government to place an embargo on the establishment of more universities in the country.

Oloyede had said the Federal Government should place more emphasis on the development of the existing universities in the country, rather than establishing new ones.

“Since education is everybody’s business, all Nigerians should support the effort towards educational development. Universities should not be established just to boost the ego of rich individuals and politicians,” the JAMB Registrar was quoted to have said during the 4th convocation lecture of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State, on Friday.

The JAMB Registrar’s remark unexpectedly received positive review from Nigerians who believe he would do better as the minister of education.

The twitter users urged President Buhari, who is expected to name his new cabinet members any moment from now, to appoint Oloyede as education minister to “revive the ailing Educational sector.”
