Plateau United edged closer to their first-ever Nigerian Professional Football League title, as they are now six points clear at the top of the NPFL table after they beat closest rivals MFM FC 1-0 in the pouring rain at home on Sunday.
Ibeh Johnson scored the match-winning goal after just three minutes, while Daniel Itodo came close to adding a second when his bicycle-kick hit the woodwork.
In the other NPFL matches, Remo Stars were officially relegated following a home 1-3 defeat to Rivers United.
Chibuzor Madu’s 27th-minute penalty was all Rangers required to secure a much-needed home win against Sunshine Stars.
Akwa United beat Niger Tornadoes 3- 0, while Enyimba were ruthless at home against ABS FC, as the beat the Ilorin based club 3-0.
