NYSC: Zulum Pays N203 Million To Corps Members

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has approved N202.6 million for payment of outstanding allowances to serving and outgone members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state.

The sum was the accumulation of the monthly allowances due to corps members serving in Borno. The state pays N10,000 each to regular corps members while medical corps doctors and paramedics are entitled to N100,000 and N50,000 respectively.

The Borno NYSC desk officer, Christopher Godwin-Akaba, confirmed the release of the money to newsmen on Saturday.

Godwin-Akaba said medical corps doctors and paramedics were paid N75.4 million in the last one year by Governor Zulum.

“N127.2 million was equally released to offset allowances of other categories of corps members, numbering 3,133 in the state,’’ he said.

Godwin-Akaba also revealed that the Borno government had built a new orientation camp in the state, adding that the state would soon be ready to resume orientation exercise at the new facility.

“This came in line with Gov. Zulum’s request when the Director-General of the scheme, Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim paid him a visit in 2019.

“The camp has been completed and we are ready for the take-off of the exercise if necessary security clearance is received,’’ he said.
