Offa Robbery: Police Make U-Turn Over Saraki’s Invitation

Barely twenty-four hours after summoning Senate President Bukola Saraki to appear at their headquarters for questioning, the Nigeria Police have backpedalled on their invitation.

Recall that the police public relations officer, Jimoh Moshood, on Sunday, asked Saraki to appear at the Louis Edet house in Abuja to answer questions regarding his alleged connection with the recent robbery at Offa, Kwara state.

Recall also that the robbery on the five commercial banks had left no fewer than 33 people dead – including police officers.

The leader of the robbery gang had reportedly confessed that he and his gang members were political thugs of the senate president and the Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed.

Saraki, in his reaction to the summon had said he was yet to receive letter of invitation to the police, adding that he asked his Aide De Camp (ADC) to get the invitation.

In a twist of event, Saraki revealed that he has received a letter from the police asking him to respond to the allegations in writing before 48 hours.

“Following my earlier tweet, I have received the letter from @PoliceNG. They are no longer asking me to appear at any station, but to respond in writing to the allegations within 48 hours — which I plan to do,” Saraki said via his twitter handle.
