Orji Kalu’s Senatorial Ambition Suffers Fresh Setback

All does not seem well for the Senatorial ambition of the former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, as his name was once again omitted in the All Progressive Congress (APC) list of cleared senatorial aspirants.

Ag. National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr Yekini Nabena, had on Tuesday published the party’s candidates names ahead of its senatorial primaries on Wednesday.

Recall also that Kalu’s name was visibly omitted when the APC national leadership sent a list containing the names of its recognized members to the ex-governor’s ward in Igbere, Bende Local Government Area in Abia North senatorial district, before its presidential primaries, on Friday.

Kalu had subsequently expressed displeasure that his name was conspicuously left out in the membership list sent to his ward.

The Abia ex-governor has been vocal in his support of President Muhammadu Buhari‘s reelection in 2019 and has been seen in APC stakeholders meetings.

He recently visited former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida to canvass for support for Buhari ahead of next year’s presidential election.
