Osinbajo Praises Omo-Agege’s Defiance Of Saraki-led Senate

Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, on Sunday, received lavish praise from Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for allegedly leading some thugs to steal the mace which made it impossible for the Bukola Saraki-led senate to a hold plenary that could have resulted in unfavorable decision for the Muhammadu Buhari presidency.

Osinbajo spoke during Omo-Agege’s ‘Thanksgiving Mass’ which held on Sunday at the Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church Effurun in Uvwie LGA, Delta State.

Osinbajo extolled Omo-Agege as a fearless politician who “stood up” to do what many would be “shy or afraid to do” and was consequently rewarded by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with the office of the Deputy Senate President.

“In most of the things people were shy or afraid to do, Omo-Agege stood up and was ready to be counted at the right time.

“I think that for his courage and for his steadfastness and for his reliability, not only was he rewarded by his constituents who he loves very much but also by our great party, and by the 9th Senate by his election to the position of Deputy Senate President,’’ said Osinbajo.

The vice president was not explicit enough on what he meant by the deputy senate president being rewarded for show of courage.

But in 2018, Omo-Agege was alleged to have led some thugs to steal the mace in the 8th senate under the leadership of the then Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

The mace was stolen about a month after President Buhari withheld assent to the amended 2018 electoral act that sought to change the sequence of the 2019 general elections, amongst others.

Meanwhile, in his comment, Omo-Agege thanked God for helping him achieve what he’s achieved so far.

He expressed gratitude to President Buhari, Osinbajo, the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, governors and all party faithful who were instrumental to his emergence as deputy senate president.
