Senate Drills Omo-Agege Over Its Mace Theft

The Nigerian Senate, on Tuesday, drilled Senator Ovie Omo-Agege over the recent invasion of its chamber and the consequent stealing of its Mace.

THE WHISTLER recalls that some hoodlums alleged to have been sponsored by Omo-Agege had on April 8, 2018, invaded the Senate and made away with its symbol of authority before it was later found around the City Gate in Abuja by the police.

The upper legislative chamber had, as a result, instituted a committee to investigate the Delta Central Senator’s complicity in the stealing of the Mace.

Today, Senator Omo-Agege heeded the committee’s invitation to appear before it to explain the role he played in the Mace theft.

At the ongoing panel, Omo-Agege was also joined by Senator Ali Ndume and they will both defend their involvement in the Senate invasion.

The Red Chamber was invaded in April after the Delta Central senator was suspended for accusing the Senate leadership of aiming at President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid by attempting to reorder the 2019 general election sequence.

The Senator is facing the panel after Federal High Court in Abuja declared his suspension illegal and ordered his resumption at the Senate.
