Otti Seeks Labour Party Unity Ahead Of 2027

The Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has urged stakeholders of the Labour Party (LP) in Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, to embrace unity, inclusive leadership and collective participation as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Governor Otti made the call on Monday at the Umuomainta Women’s Hall, Nbawsi, during the Nsulu Labour Party Stakeholders Summit, themed, “Sustaining the Transformation: A United Labour Party in Nsulu for 2027 and Beyond.”

Represented by the National Vice Chairman of the Labour Party, South-East, Hon Ishmael Onuoha, Governor Otti, urged party members to respect legitimate leadership and ensure that all stakeholders were carried along in the affairs and decision-making processes of the party.

He stressed that unity and peace were necessary for sustainable development, urging the stakeholders to work together beyond the summit for the progress of the party and the area.

“Prioritise unity and inclusive leadership. We must have one voice, show respect to our genuine leadership and embrace collective action for development.

“If there is no peace, there will be no development. Make sure that Nsulu is actively involved in the election. Every issue of concern would be adequately addressed,” Otti stated.

The governor also assured the stakeholders that concerns raised during the summit would receive appropriate attention, while urging them to remain actively involved in the activities of the party.

Speaking at the event, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, said every stakeholder had a role to play in strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ajagba congratulated the newly elected and inaugurated members of the Nsulu Labour Party Stakeholders Forum, charging them to embark on grassroots mobilisation across the various communities in the area.

He urged them to visit “all the nooks and crannies” of the Local Government Area to attract more members to the party, stressing that the responsibility of building the party was not limited to elected officials.

“The work is not just for the elected officials, every member of the party has a role to play,” Ajagba said.

The Chief of Staff, who is also the political leader of his people, described Nsulu as a community blessed with prominent and influential sons and daughters.

He expressed optimism that the collective efforts of the people would further strengthen the Labour Party in the area and directed each ward to nominate two ex-officio members to join the newly inaugurated stakeholders forum.

Also speaking, the Abia State Chairman of the Labour Party, Chief Peter Azubuike, urged Nsulu leaders to collaborate with other political blocs in Isiala Ngwa North to secure victory for Governor Otti and other Labour Party candidates in the 2027 elections.

Azubuike called on the people to protect what he described as the achievements of the Otti administration, citing projects including the Smart School at Umuomaiukwu and the Abia International Airport, Nsulu.

He urged party members to remain focused on sustaining the state’s development and avoid distractions from opposition politics.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of Abia Arise, Mazi Nkem Okoro, stressed the importance of unity among the people of Nsulu and called for equitable political participation among the various blocs in Isiala Ngwa North.

Okoro urged the stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure that the people were adequately engaged ahead of the 2027 elections.

Presenting a paper titled, “Labour Party Nsulu: The Challenges and Way Forward,” a party stakeholder, Dr Chris Ugwumadu, called for greater cooperation and commitment among members.

Ugwumadu said the stakeholders must remain focused on strengthening the party at the grassroots and working towards a common objective ahead of the 2027 polls.

“The commitment of party members should be to deliver Governor Otti and all Labour Party candidates at the polls in 2027,* he said.

In separate goodwill messages, Labour Party stakeholders including Elder GOC Nnaji, Dr John Enyioko and Dr Sylvester Offor urged Nsulu people to unite behind the party and work for an overwhelming victory in the 2027 elections.

The stakeholders called for the mobilisation and delivery of votes from the area to the Labour Party, stressing the need for Nsulu to give the governor maximum support at the polls.

The Councillor representing Isiala Nsulu Ward 3, Mrs. Chinyere Obadiah, and the Women Leader of Umuomainta, Nbawsi, Dr Mrs Esther Mbuko, among others, also commended Governor Otti’s administration.

They said the governor had positively impacted various aspects of the lives of the people and deserved the support of the electorate in the 2027 election.

They described Otti as a performing governor, saying his administration had recorded significant achievements and should be supported for another term.

The newly elected officials of the Nsulu Stakeholders Forum are Dr Chris Ugwumadu, Chairman; Hon Gospel Geoffrey, Vice Chairman; Dr Eluwa Chibuzo, Secretary; Mr Samuel Ajagba, Assistant Secretary; Bishop Nwogwugwu Eugene, Treasurer; Mrs Ozioma John, Financial Secretary; Dr Mrs Esther Mbuko, Women Coordinator; Dr Enyichukwu Olumba, Publicity Secretary; Mrs Eziuzor Chinkata, Assistant Women Coordinator; and Chinwendu Amaechi, Youth Coordinator.

The summit attracted Labour Party stakeholders from across the Nsulu political bloc, including various women’s groups.
