Oyo-Ita Meets Buhari After FEC Meeting

The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, will after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday hold a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, THE WHISTLER understands.

Oyo-Ita’s meeting with President Buhari may not be unconnected with reports that the Head of Service had allegedly tendered her voluntary retirement letter to the President.

The Head of Service, who is currently attending President Buhari’s swearing-in of ministers-designate at the FEC meeting holding at the State House, was rumoured to have tendered the letter amid reports of her alleged probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged N3 billion contract scam.

She had been billed to make a presentation on “consolidating ongoing reforms in the public service” at a two-day retreat organized for the minsters-designate by the Presidency on Monday and Tuesday, but was however absent at the programme.

On her arrival ahead ot today’s FEC meeting, Oyo-Ita headed towards the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari.

A Presidency source told THE WHISTLER that the Head of Service will meet Buhari after the FEC meeting and is expected to discuss the alleged voluntary retirement with the President.

Oyo-Ita’s Civil Service Reforms

Oyo-Ita, who was appointed Head of Service by the President in 2015, has initiated a number of reforms aimed at driving transformation of the Nigerian Civil Service.

Some of the reforms initiated under her include the “re-design and re-launch of three core-training modules” which is aimed at cultivating next generation of leaders in the Service.

Other areas that have received prioritized attention under the Oyo-Ita-led Federal Civil Service include: Launching of strategic sourcing of identified skills, launching of salary review of the civil service, launching of the ‘EPIC’ culture of transformation, acceleration of roll-out of the HR module of IPPIS, and establishing of enterprise content management solution in the Civil Service.
