It’s A Shame You’ve Turned Beggars, Kanu Slams S/East Govs

Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has described as shameful, a plea by governors from the South-East region of the country, that President Muhammadu Buhari approves a ban of herdsmen moving cattle by foot in the region.

The governors in the open letter had said, “We plead with Mr. President that we publish this letter to assuage our people’s feelings who erroneously think that no efforts are being made by the leaders of the South-east to tackle insecurity and economic challenges facing the zone and to let them know that her leaders before now have been working very hard without making noise as issues of security must not be discussed in the public.

“That Mr. President do approve the earlier resolution of the South-East governors banning herdsmen without cattle and movement of cattle by foot in the zone to eliminate increasing cases of killing, maiming, raping of our women, the kidnapping of our people and the destruction of our farmlands mostly carried out by foreign herdsmen and in most cases with the backing of some compromised local herders.”

But Nnamdi Kanu, in a reaction on his official Twitter page, wrote: “It’s a shame that the Umahi-led SE Govs have turned to beg for the approval of Jubril (aka Buhari) on a simple matter of controlling “movement of CATTLE by foot” in South East.

“Cattle is livestock. The Zoo Constitution allows the State/LGAs (not the President) to regulate it. Sad!”

Recall that there have been exchange of words between the governors and the IPOB leader after members of the proscribed group attacked former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu in Germany.

Kanu had threatened that governors and leaders of the region who attend events outside the country will be treated in like fashion.

The governors, however, dared the IPOB leader, stating that “if any Southeast person be attacked anywhere in the world, we shall, by all means, bring back Kanu to Nigeria to face the wrath of our people.”
