PHOTOS: Princess Onuoha Urges South East To Take Constitution Review Hearing Seriously

Princess Miriam Onuoha, the House of Representatives member representing Okigwe North, has urged South East residents to have faith in the ongoing constitution review public hearing in Imo State.

Speaking at the zonal public hearing on Wednesday, Onuoha urged participants to take advantage of the medium to demand solution to important issues affecting them as individuals and a region.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, who is in charge of coordinating the public hearing, also spoke on the need to use the medium to demand for increased women’s participation in politics.

“I like to assure all Nigerians especially people from the South East to have faith in this process.

“I will like to ensure everyone that this is a veritable and a good platform where people from all walks of life, irrespective of how important or how less important their opinions and ideas are, can be rest assured that their opinion and focus count right now.

“And this review, the committee will listen to every group from the women, the traditional rulers, those asking for creation of additional state and from every other body irrespective of what they have to say,” said Onuoha.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, had in his address called for the creation of an additional state in the South East.

“Ndigbo will begin to see equity in action when an amended constitution births a sixth state in the southeast.

“The Igbo people seek a constitutional guarantee of their inalienable rights as citizens. A sixth state will go a long way in assuaging the acclaimed marginalization.

“I call on all Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity presented by the public hearing to present what they think is necessary for our constitution to be called the peoples’ constitution,” said Uzodinma.
