Police Arrest 7 Suspected Car Thieves in Abuja

Seven suspected car thieves have been apprehended by the police along the Bwari axis of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The FCT Police Commissioner, Bala Ciroma said the suspects were paraded at the command’s headquarters on Wednesday.

Ciroma noted that the suspects were unaware that a tracking device was installed in the vehicle.
They later admitted stealing the vehicle after their arrest.

The commissioner said they also claimed responsibility for several other atrocities perpetrated in that axis.

The commissioner gave the names of the suspects as Abbas Ibrahim, John Aefa, Jerry Bulus, Uzochukwu Micheal, Abdulrahman Suleiman and Stanley Okeke.

“And concerted effort is also being made to apprehend one Abdullahi, who is at large, while exhibits recovered from the suspects included silver-coloured Toyota Matrix with registration number ABC 584 PA and ash-coloured Toyota Camry,” he said.

Other exhibits recovered included three locally made pistols, four live cartridges, nine phones and six ATM cards from different banks.

Ciroma disclosed that other suspects involved in car theft include one Suraju Ibrahim, a member of a two-man gang in Zamfara State and one Faruk Umar in Kaduna for stealing a vehicle belonging to his employer.

Ibrahim had confessed to belonging to a gang that specialises in monitoring unsuspecting victims before carrying out their mission along the Abuja-Kaduna axis.
Umar had confessed he wanted to use the stolen vehicle for commercial purpose.
