Police Condemn Another ‘Senseless Attack’ In Enugu

A yet-to-be-identitied group, Tuesday morning, attacked the office of the neighbourhood watch group at Enugu Ezike, Igboeze North LGA of Enugu State.

The attack led to the killing of two members of the group. Their office and patrol vehicle were also burnt.

A resident, Mr Julius Apeh, said, “Such never happened in our area. Our place has always been peaceful.”

Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police, Mr Abubakar Lawal, has visited the scene of the incident.

The state police PRO, Mr Daniel Ndukwe, stated that the commissioner was there for on-the-spot assessment of attacks.

According to him, “The CP commiserated with family members and friends of the deceased personnel of the group and prays for the quick recovery of those hospitalized.

“He describes the act as senseless and has ordered the state CID to carry out full-scale investigations to fish out and bring the assailants to book.”

He added that three persons suspected to be connected to the act had been arrested and were helping in the ongoing investigations.
