Police Confirm Attack On Kaduna Community As Residents Flee

The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed an attack on Bakali village of Fatika district in Giwa Local Government Area in the state by suspected bandits on Tuesday even as residents flee the village for fear of more attacks.

Spokesman of the command, Muhammed Jalige made the confirmation on Wednesday but however said the Command was yet to ascertain the number of people killed in the attack.

According to Jalige, a team of policemen has been deployed to the area to ascertain how the incident occurred and restore calm in the area.

The bandits were said to have invaded the predominantly Hausa community at about 4pm and started shooting sporadically, and allegedly killed a family of 16 members after they were locked up in a room before setting it on fire.

Villagers were said to have scampered for safety, while the assailants set houses, vehicles, motorcycles and farm products in the village ablaze.

Also, many of the villagers were said to have fled their homes for fear of more attacks.
