Police Deny Officer Was Abducted During Operation To Rescue Lebanese

The Oyo State Police Command said the Lebanese kidnapped by gunmen at the Panarama Farm Mekun, at the Oke Alaro of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, had been freed while also denying any of its operatives was abducted during the operation.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, stated this in a statement on Monday.

The police spokesman explained that the rescued victim, Hassan Mill, had since been reunited with his family.

According to him, prior to this, Mills was taken to a hospital for medical treatment immediately after he was rescued from the hoodlums.

Shortly before the police announced the rescue of Mill, there were reports that a policeman who was part of the rescue team was also taken into captivity by the kidnappers.

But the PPRO asked the public to ignore the report which he described as false.

The statement read, “Re: Abduction of Hassan Mill ‘m’ a Lebanese kidnapped at Panarama Farm Mekun, Oke Alaro. Information received from DPO Oke Alaro revealed that Hassan Mill ‘m’ has been rescued from his captors and has been reunited with his family while he was taken to the hospital for medical attention.

“In a related development, no police officer involved in the rescue operation was kidnapped and the trending statement from mischievous writer online should be disregarded.”
