Police Launch Manhunt For Abductors Of Nursing Mother In Bauchi

The police in Bauchi State said they have commenced investigation into the abduction of a nursing mother in the Birshin Fulani area of Bauchi metropolis in Bauchi State.

The state’s police spokesperson, DSP Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this to THE WHISTLER during a phone call.

Suspected bandits numbering about 10 were said to have stormed the community on motorbikes on Friday midnight and abducted the mother of three. 

Husband to the abducted woman, Rukayyat Odedoyinz had just been transferred to Kaduna when the incident happened.

Residents of the community had taken to the streets of Bayara community along the Bauchi Dass road by the Federal Polytechnic to protest on Friday morning.

They accused the state government of negligence, especially regarding the spate of kidnappings in the community.

On September 4, gunmen had invaded the same community, killing a lecturer of the Bauchi Federal Polytechnic and injuring many.

Confirming the incident to THE WHISTLER, Wakil said the incident occurred at about 3:30am on Friday.

He said operatives of the command had rushed to the scene following a distress call from the security outfit in the community.

On arrival, the police said the assailant had already made away with the victim through a bush path close to the victim’s residence. 

He assured that investigations had begun in order to apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.

Reacting to the protest that ensued earlier, Wakil said, “We reached out to the leaders of the youths to talk to them not to take laws into their hands, so they should be calm as we are using all technical resources to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime. 

“We call on members of the public and Bauchi residents to be calm and they should appreciate the effort of the police and they should understand that policing is everybody’s business”.
