Police Re-Apprehend Sen. Melaye’s Alleged Political Thugs

The Nigeria Police Force said the six suspects who escaped the police custody in Kogi state have been re-apprehended.

The development is coming about a week after the suspects allegedly fled police detention in Lokoja, just moments before their arraignment in court.

Some of the suspects, who were held captive on allegations of working as political thugs for Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi West Senatorial District, were apprehended at different locations last week, while one Mr. Seidu was arrested on Sunday night in Bauchi State.

Recall that the police had claimed that two of the six suspects confessed to being armed and financed by Melaye. The Senator had however denied links to the suspects. He also threatened to sue the police for blackmail.
