Power Supply: Ayade Signs MoU With Dubai Firm

The Cross River State governor, Senator Ben Ayade on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SkipperSeil Limited of Dubai, United Arab Emirates to ensure a 24-hour supply in Calabar, the state Capital.

The signing of the MUO was held at the Governor’s office in Calabar, where President of the firm, Mr. Jitender Sachdeva gave the assurance that construction work will commence in about two months.

The 100kvm solar power intervention is expected to serve as a grid for industrial zones across the 18 LGAs of the state.

The signing of the MoU was the highlight of a three-day Middle East Electricity Exhibition which took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

According to the MoU, SkipperSeil is to establish a solar farm to produce 100 megawatts of electricity for Cross River State.

Besides providing a bankable land as equity, Cross River is also expected to make available one million US dollars to kick-start the pilot scheme, while SkipperSeil, on the other hand, is to invest $15 million in the project.

Cross River State is located in the southern region of Nigeria. It is a state known for its famous tourist attractions in Nigeria.
