Recall that the CSPD pensioners commenced the exercise on July 1st, 2023 with a six-month window within which they should confirm that they are still alive and should continue to receive their monthly pension directly into their bank account.

Extending the date, Ejikeme said, “To make sure all pensioners in this category effectively participate in this exercise, we have approved a one-month extension therefore moving the deadline for CSPD pensioners to confirm aliveness to February 29th, 2024.

“In the meantime, PTAD has forwarded the names of the affected pensioners to the state branches and zonal offices of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) while letters and SMS notifications have been sent to the affected pensioners”.

She also warned that CSPD pensioners who failed to confirm aliveness within the one-month grace window will be dropped from the scheme.

“With the extension, any CSPD Pensioner who does not confirm aliveness will be dropped from the monthly pension payroll. However, they will be automatically restored to the payroll once they confirm aliveness” Ejikeme warned.
