Rivers APC’s Many Lies Have Been Exposed – Obuah

Bro Felix Obuah, Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says the State Neighbourhood Corps law has exposed the secret plans and the many lies of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.

Obuah said this in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Tuesday.

The state PDP chairman was reacting to threat by the APC to come up with its own security outfit, following the establishment of the state’s Neighbourhood Corps law.

Obuah said the only reason for the APC’s threat is to cause unease in the State before and during the upcoming elections, which according to him, are now rendered useless by the new law.

He expressed shock that a party that had always alleged insecurity in the State would so much show disdain for genuine efforts by the people – oriented administration of Governor Nyesom Wike to address the menace of crime and related cases once and for all.

More surprising, the State PDP boss noted, was the tendency of the APC to be approbating and reprobating at the same time by discrediting the Neighbourhood Safety Corps and also threatening to create a similar security outfit which of course, they lack the powers to do so.

Dismissing the threat credited to the APC State Publicity Secretary, Chris Fynbone as mere bombastic junk, the State PDP leadership said it is high time the APC aligned itself to issue-based politics and stop attacking personalities and genuine intentions.

Bro Obuah said for the APC to deny the many unprecedented landmarks of Governor Wike including youth employment in the State shows that they are either natural selfish ingrates or they are just existing and not living in Rivers State.

“Virile opposition as a feature of a democratic government, is far from not appreciating the ruling party even when it has performed excellently and commendably well” Obuah said.

Bro Obuah appealed to the Rivers people to disregard the pranks of the APC, noting that the Neighbourhood Safety Corps has come to be and will hopefully address the pockets of criminal activities across the State by assisting security agencies with intelligence information on suspects irrespective of their social, economic and political connections.

He advised the APC to thread the path of caution, pocket their preemptions and wait to see if there will be any sacred cows in the implementation of the Neighbourhood Safety Corps law before, during and after the 2019 elections, adding that the law is for the security of the land and not for elections.
