Rivers United Head Coach Feared Kidnapped

Stanley Eguma, head coach of Rivers United, is believed to have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

A source close to the team informed THE WHISTLER that the coach may have been kidnapped while returning from Gombe State where the team traveled for a match against Adamawa United which ended 2-0.

According to the source who is an official, the rest of the team left Enugu State on Tuesday back to Port Harcourt but the coach did not return with them.

“According to some senior management staff, they got phone calls that he’s been kidnapped by unknown gunmen,” he stated.

THE WHISTLER, gathered the management of the team are in talks with his abductors for possible release.

However, there is no official statement from the management of the club regarding the alleged abduction.

Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, when contacted by THE WHISTLER said: “I am yet to be briefed about the incident.

“I expect an official report from the management of the team.”
