Anambra Guber: Alex Ekwueme Dumps Obiano, Backs Obaze

Dr. Alex Ekwueme, former Vice-President of Nigeria, has thrown his weight behind Anambra governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, ahead of the November 18 gubernatorial election in the state.

The former VP, who was once a staunch supporter of incumbent governor, Willie Obiano, made the announcement on Wednesday in his family house at Oko, Orumba North local Government Area of the state.

Ekueme’s first daughter, Chidi Onyemelukwe, is a running mate to Obaze in the governorship race, while, Obiano is of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

He said, “Anambra State is a PDP state from inception. We shall now continue with the PDP. Time has come for us to take away power from APGA.”

In his response, Obaze hailed Ekwueme for his roles in the enthronement of democracy in the country in 1999.
