APC Disowns Chieftain Over Apology Letter To Jonathan

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned one of its estranged chieftains, Timi Frank, over the apology letter he recently offered former President Goodluck Jonathan.

It would be recalled that Mr Frank had in the letter apologised to Jonathan “for all the tantrums and mistreatment orchestrated” by himself and the APC against the former president “while he held sway at the helm of affairs of our great country.”

While decrying alleged budding corruption under President Muhammadu Buhari in the letter, the estranged APC Chieftain said he and “Indeed many others may have misunderstood Jonathan’s silence for weakness and thus pushed harder to malign his person and portray him as a weak leader.”

Mr Timi said the ‘CHANGE’ his party the APC promised Nigerians is not what it is giving the citizens today, adding that under President Muhammadu Buhari, “the rule of law has been replaced with the rule of force. You [Buhari] have injected fear into the society. People who voted for you to save them from corruption and ineptitude have been barred from speaking up against the myriads of evil and wicked acts being perpetrated by officials in your government.”

But reacting to Frank’s outburst in a terse statement, the APC begged to correct the “wrongful designation” bestowed on him as by the media outlets as its chieftain.

“Our attention has been drawn to a report in which one Timi Frank was addressed as a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” said APC’s National Publicity, Bolaji Abdullahi.

“We wish to correct the wrongful designation and remind the general public that Timi Frank has since November 2016 been suspended as a member of the APC following a recommendation of an APC disciplinary committee and subsequent ratification by the party’s south-south zonal executive committee.

“Hence, whatever position Timi Frank holds or canvasses is done in his personal capacity and has no bearing on the APC,” Bolaji said.

Until his suspension, Mr Frank was the deputy spokesman of the APC.
