Biafra Group Attempts To Seize Enugu Govt House

Members of the Pro-Biafra group, Biafra Zionists Federation (BZF), Wednesday morning, stormed the Enugu State Government House, in an attempt to overthrow the government.

BZF, led by Barr. Benjamin Onwuka, stormed the Government House as early as 7 am with Biafra flags chanting Biafran songs.

The group had earlier vowed to be at the Government House today, Wednesday, May 30, for the purpose of declaration of Biafra Republic.

The move was however foiled by a combined team of security operatives made up of the DSS, anti-terrorism squad, mobile policemen, SARS, among others.

The BZF leader, Onwuka and about fifteen other members of the group were arrested, while others fled.

Recall that Pro-Biafran groups, including the Indigenous People of Biafra and the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, had called for a sit-at-home protest in order to celebrate the anniversary of the defunct Republic of Biafra on May 30, the date the breakaway state declared independence from Nigeria in 1967.
