Buhari Departs New York, Flies To London For Medical Check-Up

President Muhammadu Buhari has departed New York for London, the United Kingdom.

The President had been in the United States for the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly, where he addressed over 170 world leaders.

He was reportedly accompanied to the John F Kennedy International Airport, Thursday morning by the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations, Prof Tijjani Bande and Minister of Foreign Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.

Others are Minister of Defence, Brig-Gen Mansur Mohammed Dan-Ali, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau; Minister of State, Environment, Ibrahim Jibrin; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, amongst others.

Recall that the president’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, had said Buhari will transit through London on his way back to the country.

“President Buhari will transit through London on his way back to the country,” Adesina said in a statement last week.

He delivered Nigeria’s address, on Tuesday, during the General Debate of the General Assembly.

On the sidelines of the General Assembly, President Buhari met with King Abdullah II of the Kingdom of Jordan, had lunch with United States President Donald Trump, had bilateral meeting with the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres and President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana.
