Buhari Mourns Drowned Kaduna Students

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed condolences to the government and people of Kaduna State, over the tragic death of 5 students of Victory College, Ungwan Yelwa.

The students had been on an excursion to a waterworks facility at the Kaduna River when a boat capsized. Nine of them were said to have slipped into the River but only four where rescued alive.

President Buhari in a statement said he was deeply saddened by the news, adding that his thoughts and prayers were with the families of the deceased and the management of the College.

I am deeply saddened by the news of the tragic drowning of students of Victory College, Kaduna, while on an excursion.

The bodies of the deceased children were on Wednesday recovered and deposited at the Saint Gerald Catholic Hospital in Kaduna.

The officials of the Kaduna State Emergency management Agency recovered the bodies with the support of the local divers.
