Jonathan Speaks On Buhari’s Letter Labelling Osinbajo ‘Coordinator’

As the recent letter transmitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly continues to stir controversies, the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Minna Chapter, Taidi Jonathan, has said the disagreements were “unnecessary”.

It would be recalled that President Buhari had, in the letter before embarking on another medical leave to London, named Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as “coordinator” of the nation’s affairs.

But Jonathan, in his reaction to the controversies, said the president’s choice of words in the letter shouldn’t attract any form of argument.

This, he said while speaking with journalists in Minna, Niger State.

“The law is very clear about this. When the president is not in, the Vice President steps in. Buhari is not in and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is the acting President. That is all.

“The controversy over the content of the letter or the choice of words is needless.

“Efforts should be geared towards supporting Osibanjo and wishing the President quick recovery; Nigerians want good leadership and there is no vacuum,” said Jonathan.
