Nigerian Soldier Sentenced To Death For Killing Boko Haram Suspect
A Nigerian soldier, Hilary Joel has been sentenced to death for alleged murder of a suspected Boko Haram terrorist.
The army in a statement on Friday Hilary, who is a lance corporal, was convicted of murder by the General Court Martial, at the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Borno State.
Brigadier General Olusegun Adeniyi, presided over the court.

The statement which was issued by lieutenant colonel, spokesperson of the division, further noted that four other soldiers were also tried for various offenses received varying sentences.
The statement said a representative of the National Human Rights Commission, Jumai Mshelia, who was present during the trial, commended the army for the transparent manner it treated the accused soldiers.
She said the actions taken by the army today showed that it is a disciplined body.
