Nigerians have taken to social media to berate CNN Africa, after the media outlet failed to mention the country’s name as they reported Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg’s visit to the nation.

Recall that Zuckerberg on Tuesday made his first ever visit to Africa, with his first stop being Lagos, Nigeria.

The Facebook founder visited Nigeria’s commercial capital, and interacted with Nigerian tech entrepreneurs at Yaba, regarded as the Silicon Valley of Nigeria.

“Zuckerberg is in Nigeria to listen and learn and take ideas back to California on how Facebook can better support tech development and entrepreneurship across Africa,” Facebook said in a statement.

Despite other media companies, including the BBC reporting that the Zuckerberg made his first ever trip to Nigeria, CNN however reported that the Facebook founder visited Sub-Saharan Africa.

“Mark Zuckerberg makes first-ever visit to Sub-Saharan Africa,” CNN Africa said.

The omission of Nigeria’s name by the CNN did not go down well with Nigerians, and they have now taken on twitter to vent their anger on the media giant’s reportage.
