No Rift Between Senate, Presidency – Saraki

Senate president Bukola Saraki has denied any rift between the legislative and executive arms of government.

Saraki, who made the statement via his Twitter handle on Monday said that Nigerians were just exaggerating normal executive and Legislative actions.

According to him, he was in constant touch with President Muhammadu Buhari, hence a proof that all that has been going on were just normal functions of the two arms of government.

Recall that the social media has been agog with news of a fight between the two arms of government.

The recent rejection of Ibrahim Magu as acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and the refusal of the senate to approve the confirmation of the 27 resident electoral commissioners (RECs) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nominated by Buhari had further fuels reports of a feud.

Furthermore, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Custom, Hammed Ali, had also within this period turned down Senate’s invitation, while the Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Professor Itse Sagay (SAN) had also refused to honour senate’s invitation.

Saraki, on his twitter page wrote, “No rift between @NGRPresident & @NGRsenate just people exaggerating normal exec & Legislative actions. I’m in constant touch with @MBuhari.”
