The JAC Chairman said the strike was called off following consultations with its members.

“Based on extensive consultations with our various organs, we hereby announce the suspension of the strike action embarked upon by JAC with effect from today, March 14,” He said.

The JAC comprises of the National Association of Academic Technologists, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities.

The three unions had commenced the industrial action in December 2017, as a result of the inability of government to clarify the criteria for the disbursement of 23 billion naira released to university unions, which SSANU, NASU and NAAT claim has been hijacked by the academic staff union of universities, ASUU.
