Tailor Sewing Amotekun Uniforms For Sale Arrested In Ibadan

The Oyo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Operation Amotekun has arrested a tailor for allegedly sewing fake uniforms of the corps to members of the public.

The Commandant of the security outfit, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (retd.), said on Saturday that the suspect was arrested in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

He stated that the suspect, who was arrested around the Challenge area of the city, had been handed over to the police at Yemetu Police Station for further investigation.

The Amotekun commandant said, “We heard these people were sewing and selling fake Amotekun uniforms to some people particularly at Lagelu area and we are presently at the area to uncover the truth.

“Our fear is that if the uniforms get to wrong hands and they use them to commit crimes, people will believe it’s handiwork of real Amotekun personnel. We are really afraid because of this development because bad news spreads quickly than good news.”

Amotekun, which is just six weeks old in Oyo State, has come under heavy criticisms following the killings of some youths.
