Total Energies Forces Chairman To Resign After Accepting Offer From Vivo Energy

Total Energies have said that Stanislas Mittelman has ceased to be the Chairman of the company’s Board with immediate effect.

Total said on Wednesday that  Mittelman has also been replaced by Engr. Rufa’i Sirajo.

THE WHISTLER understands that Mittelman, a French businessman, recently accepted an offer from Vivo Energy.

Vivo announced on November 9, 2021 that its chief executive Officer Christian Chammas will retire from 2022 and Mittelman was named the CEO-designate.

Both companies are rivals. They are Africa-focused retailers and distributors of fuels and lubricants.

Vivo is a British downstream petroleum company with its headquarters in London, while Total has its head office in the Tour Total in the La Défense district in Courbevoie, France

Vivo said, “Mittelman would join the company in early 2022, once he had completed his notice period with his current employer and had secured a work permit. He was expected to become CEO in March 2022.”

But Total in its statement said he has resigned and ceases to be the company’s board chairman.

“We write to formally notify the investing public and the Nigerian Exchange Limited that Mr. Stanislas Mittelman has resigned from the Board of TotalEnergies SE with immediate effect, and so he ceases to be the Chairman of the Board of TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc.

“Engr. Rufa’i Sirajo will assume the position of Acting Chairman pending the next meeting of the Board of Directors when a new Chairman will be appointed.”

Mittelman has over 30 years of downstream energy experience with most part of his career involved on the African continent.

According to reports, Vivo will place him on a base salary of £585,000 an equivalent of ($793,494).

He will also enjoy a pension allowance of 10 per cent of base salary.
