Treepz Partners CMS Taxi To Digitise Transportation For 1.2 Million Customers

Nigerian mobility startup, Treepz Inc. is partnering with CMS Taxi and Motor Nigeria Limited to provide a digital payment system for over 1.2 million commuters in Lagos State.

With the deal, Treepz is providing for CMS T&M management a digitised  ticketing system to provide transparency for the bus operator.

Lagos based CMS T&M has operated in Nigeria’s commercial capital for 53 years as a licensed shuttle bus company.

The company runs high-capacity buses and minivans in the Central Business District of Lagos including Marina, Lagos Island, Victoria Island, Ikoyi, and Lekki areas of Lagos State.

The taxi company boasts of over 1.2 million annual passengers.

Treepz formerly Plenty Waka has been taking over the African transport space with acquisitions of Ghana Stabus and Uganda’s Ugabus.

Treepz recently closed a $2.8m seed round to expand into Eastern Africa.

THE WHISTLER understands that the company is also planning to expand into  Rwanda, Tanzania and Burundi.

Onyeka Akumah, CEO & Co-Founder Treepz believes that the partnership would reshape the country’s transport space.

Aside from Treepz’s newest partner, bus operators like GUO Transport, Libra Motors, EFEX Transport Service, ABC Transport and Anambra Executive are turning to Treepz to build the technology.
