Troops Kill Terrorist Commander, Recover Machine Guns In Katsina

Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have killed a suspected terrorist commander during a clearance operation in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The operation, conducted on Saturday, also led to the recovery of three machine guns, two AK-47 rifles, 11 magazines, 180 rounds of ammunition and six motorcycles.

Killed Terrorist Commander

The troops of Sector 2 encountered resistance from armed terrorists while conducting clearance operations in identified terrorist enclaves in the area.

The troops returned fire, forcing the terrorists to flee, according to the military.

During a subsequent search of the area, the troops found the body of a terrorist identified as Smally, who was described as a lieutenant to a notorious terrorist leader, Kachalla Muhammadu Filani.

The recovered items included three machine guns, two AK-47 rifles, 11 magazines, 180 rounds of ammunition and six motorcycles.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.

Danja said the operation was part of ongoing military operations against terrorist groups in the Joint Operations Area.

He said, “Troops remain resolute in taking the fight to the terrorists, denying them freedom of action and creating conditions for the restoration of lasting peace and security across affected communities.”
