Two Corps Members Die As NYSC Extends Service Of 11

The National Youth Service Corps has extended the service of 11 of its Batch B, Stream 2 corps members.

The State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe, who disclosed this at the passing-out parade on Thursday in Ibadan, said two corps members died during the service year.

Although she did not disclose what caused their deaths, she said the agency would remobilise 14 for service.

She said that the offences of those in the category of service to extension and remobilisation ranged from absenteeism, abscondment and others .

Ogbuogebe said the 2,892 corps members currently undergoing their compulsory one year service were made up of 1,367 males and 1,525 females.

She said that two corps members received honours award and a recommendation letter based on execution of community development projects.

The state coordinator also disclosed that no fewer than 40 of the corps members went on maternity leave, marriage and childbirth.

She said the passing out ceremony was low-key just to comply with physical dis tancing which is one of the methods to curb the spread of COVID-19.
