Court Quashes EFCC’s Suit Against Saraki

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has struck out an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), against former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

EFCC’s counsel had prayed the court for an order granting final forfeiture of two houses owned by the former Senate President.

EFCC’s counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, had alleged that Saraki built two properties in Ilorin, from monies he stole from the state government purse.

But Justice Rilwan Aikawa, who presided over the matter on Thursday, ruled that EFCC’s claims were founded on mere suspicion, Channels Television reports.

Regarding the houses in Ilorin, the Judge stressed that “the Pension Law” provides that a two-term governor is entitled to a house within the state upon completion of his second tenure, Channels Television reports.

Hence, Aikawa dismissed an earlier interim order the court gave( on December 2,2019) , and then quashed the entire suit.
