UK Focuses On Africa As Future Of The World In London Summit

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, has said that the economic potentials in Africa makes the continent well positioned for greater glory in every aspect.

He made the disclosure on Monday, at the UK-Africa business summit in London.

The summit was geared towards gathering businesses, governments and international institutions to showcase and promote investment opportunities across Africa; thereby strengthening the UK’s partnership with African nations to build a secure and prosperous future for all our citizens.

According to Johnson, Africa was an emerging economy whose opportunities needed to be explored for the benefit of the host continent and investors.

“Africa is the future and the UK have an active role to play in that future.

“More than half of the world’s fifteen fastest growing economies are in Africa and 2/3 of African economies are expanding faster than the global average,” he said.

Reuters reports that the meeting is holding days before the UK leaves the Europe Union and as Boris Johnson seeks greater business ties outside Europe.

President Muhammadu Buhari, President Sisi of Egypt, President Kenyatta of Kenya, , President Akufo-Addo of Ghana and President Kagame of Rwanda as well as other African business leaders were at the event.
