Recall that the US government had brokered a peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

On its part, the kingdom stressed that all hands must be on deck to establish peace across the entire Middle East region.

“Peace in the Middle East is our strategic choice, and our duty is to spare no effort to work together towards achieving a bright future dominated by peace, stability, prosperity and coexistence among all the peoples of the region.

“We also support the efforts made by the current American administration to bring peace to the Middle East by sitting the Palestinian and Israeli parties at the negotiating table to reach to a fair and comprehensive agreement.”

It further held that the Israeli-Palestine issue should be handled with care while ensuring that the rights of Palestinians were not trampled upon.

“Arab peace is the basis for a comprehensive and just solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict that ensures that the brotherly Palestinian people obtain their legitimate rights, foremost of which is the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital,” it stated.

Furthermore, it took a swipe at the Iranian government, maintaining that its behavior was destabilizing the region.

“The Kingdom has extended its hands for peace with Iran and has dealt with it during the past decades positively and openly, and has received its presidents several times to discuss ways to build good-neighborly relations and mutual respect, and it welcomed international efforts to address Iran’s nuclear program, but time after time the whole world saw the Iranian regime exploiting these efforts to increase its expansion activities, build its terrorist networks, use terrorism, and waste the resources and wealth of the Iranian people to achieve expansion projects,” the kingdom stated.

However, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani, had on Tuesday, frowned on the US attitude of sanctions and accusations against it.

Rouhani also stated that Iran was doing its part in driving out terrorism from the region.

But he told the UNGA that US threats would not deter the country from pursuing its national interest.

“To the world: today is the time to stand up against bullying. Era of dominance and hegemony are over. Our children deserve better! Now is the time for the right choice. #UNGA

“Future U.S administrations need to understand that the resilient Iranian nation will not surrender,” he said.
