Passengers on a United Nigeria Airlines flight scheduled to depart Abuja for Lagos on Sunday were stranded at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport after repeated delays pushed the departure time from 1:00 p.m. to past midnight.
According to affected passengers, the flight was originally scheduled to depart at about 1:00 p.m. but was rescheduled to 7:45 p.m. and subsequently shifted again to 9:00 p.m., with the passengers still stranded at the airport as of the time of this report, and no explanations from airline officials.
As of the time of filing this report, passengers were still waiting at the airport. They expressed frustration over poor communication and lack of passenger care.
Speaking to THE WHISTLER, one of the affected passengers said the situation had caused significant inconvenience for travelers with urgent engagements.
“There is no accommodation provided. We are still at the airport in Abuja, and airline officials are nowhere to be found,” said the passenger.
He added that passengers were left without updates or assistance, despite the long hours spent waiting at the terminal.
