Unubiko Foundation Flags Off Scholarship Program For Abia Youths

UNUBIKO Foundation on Thursday flagged off a scholarship programme that would see at least 20 youths receive digital and leadership training in Abia State.

General Manager of the foundation, Mr Benjamin Isani called on the beneficiaries to use the opportunity to pursue a life-changing career for themselves after the training.

He said the beneficiaries were thoroughly screening before selection to ensure the right people were selected.

The GM said UNUBIKO Foundation was focused on making life better for youths in the state by preparing them for self-employment.

Isani recalled effort of the foundation to alleviate the suffering of the people due to covid-19 pandemic by distributing palliative and hygiene items.

Isani, who represented the Director of the foundation, Mr James Ume, delivered his speech at the event.

Mr Ume said: “It gives me great pride to congratulate the beneficiaries of this Codecamp scholarship, I look forward to seeing that participants utilize this opportunity and put it into practice for the betterment of Abia State.”

Mr Young Ozogwo, a consultant for the foundation, also stated the importance of being versatile in the IT world.

Young said the program will cover leadership skills, team work, implementation of IT project without supervisions, programming and more.

He also stated that courses to be taught would include “ethical hacking” to enable participants know how to ascertain criminal issues.

Laptops were given out to the participants by the Chief of Staff to Abia State governor, Dr ACB Agbazuerue.

The Chief of Staff acknowledged the selfless efforts of Mr. Ume who he said had always given more to Abians.

He recalled Mr Ume’s numerous gestures to NUJ Abia State and many other groups and individuals.

He called on Abians to emulate Mr Ume and bring home their wealth to develop Abia State.

The Chief of Staff said the state government recognized and appreciate Mr Ume’s numerous kind gestures to uplift Abia Youths and Abians at large.

He congratulated all the participants and encouraged them to take their trainings serious as no knowledge is a waste. He said.”
