UPDATE: 14 GIGM, ABC Passengers Kidnapped In Kogi — Police

No fewer than 14 passengers have been abducted after armed men reportedly hijacked an ABC and God Is Good Motors (GIGM) transport company vehicles on Saturday.

THE WHISTLER reports that the passengers en route to Abuja from Abia State were attacked by armed men along the Kogi State Expressway.

Developing reports from the Kogi Police Command revealed that the victims included two passengers from the ABC transport and 12 from the GIGM who were abducted.

Confirming the number of the victims to THE WHISTLER, the Kogi police spokesperson, Williams Aya, said, “God is Good Motors was with 12 Passengers while ABC was with 2 passengers. Meanwhile, the driver of the God is Good, Mr Godwin Oniovosa was later rescued.”

THE WHISTLER further gathered that a Joint Task Force comprising various security agencies is currently on the trail of the kidnappers to rescue the abducted victims.

Earlier, Aya noted that the Kogi Police Command had deployed an additional Tactical Squad consisting of a Quick Response Unit, a Police Mobile Force, a Counter-Terrorism Unit, as well as conventional Police personnel to the area to continue with the bush combing and to ensure all victims were rescued unhurt.
